Girl group Blackpink and boy group 17 each took home two awards at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) on Monday.
Blackpink was recognized as the winner of the Best Metaverse Performance category at the MTV EMA Awards in Dusseldorf, Germany. Blackpink member Lisa also won the Best K-Pop category.
The Best Metaverse Achievement category is new this year, with Blackpink competing against the likes of Justin Bieber, Charlie XCX and Twenty One Pilots.
Boy group Seventeen won trophies in the New Act and Push Artist categories. “New Act” is a category that selects new famous singers and has been recognized as an important award category since 1994. Push Artist is a relatively new category honoring teams selected through the MTV Push Campaign.
Boy band BTS has won the ‘Biggest Fan’ award for the fifth year in a row. Tomorrow X Together was named the winner in the Best Asian Performance category.
