Korea Post announced on Dec 14, 2022 (Wed), that it will produce a set of 23 special-edition stamps commemorating 2023, which will include BTS.
Each year, Korea Post commemorates the year by issuing a series of national stamps featuring key figures, events, and monuments. The exact design has yet to be determined. Korea Post said it will collaborate with K-pop megaband agency HYBE to design a design-themed “Youth Records.”
“BTS is considered a representative pop icon of the 21st century, bringing hope and comfort to the world through lyrics,” the Korea Post said in a press release issued Wednesday.
Other iconic characters and designs, such as Pororo, the popular Korean animated penguin, and Hangul, the Korean alphabet, will also be included in the set.
“Stamps are a way to represent our nation’s precious culture, going beyond their importance as proof of payment,” said Korea Post President Son Seung Hyun. “We will continue to actively seek to promote culture representing Korea through commemorative stamps like this. “
